Sydney is the largest city in Australia, boasting a population of over 5 million. It’s also one of the most entertaining cities in the world and boasts all sorts of different sites and attractions.

The city is also quite the hotspot, with over 4 million people traveling there every year. What else does this city offer, though? We all know about the world-famous Opera House, but what else is there?

If you want the answer to that question, you’ve come to the right place.

We’ll discuss some of our favorite things to do in Sydney in this article.

1. See an Opera

The Sydney Opera House is the first thing most people think of when they think of Sydney, and there’s a good reason for that. It’s a marvel of architecture and a World Heritage Site. It’s surprisingly young for a World Heritage Site, though, having been built in the 1950s.

Opera has gotten a bad reputation these days  for being boring. However, opera has evolved quite a lot since its creation in the late 16th century. That stereotypical image of the Viking woman singing a sustained high note in a foreign language is mostly gone, replaced by more modern musical styles and stories.

Imagine what it would be like to see The Phantom of the Opera  in the most famous opera house on Earth.

2. Sydney Harbor and Bridge

Sydney Harbor and the Bridge that goes over it are both hailed as phenomenal  places, but we’ll be listing them as one attraction since they’re in roughly the same place.

The harbor was discovered by Captain Cook in 1770. The bridge was built in the early 1920s, and is unique in that it’s one of the world’s only climbable bridges.

Keep in mind that if you do want to climb the bridge and see the beauty of the harbor in all its glory, you’re going to need a guide. There’s a good chance you’ll end up climbing with a tour group, because people don’t usually go on private excursions.

3. Go Shopping

Like many other vacation spots, Sydney has many great places to shop. For instance, those with an eye for the luxurious might enjoy the Queen Victoria Building. Those who are fond of the idea of open markets should enjoy the Rocks.

Make sure when you’re shopping that you have enough room in your luggage for the things you buy. If you need any help finding a place to store those things, mindmybag can help.

Sydney is also a great place to buy food. One of the best is places for restaurants is Quay, an area next to the harbor known for shopping, dining, and boating.
